Tourism Selangor Organizes A Pickle Ball Tournament To Promote Sport Tourism

KUALA LANGAT, July 19 – In conjunction with the Visit Selangor Year 2026 campaign, the Tourism Selangor organised the Selangor Grand Slam Pickleball 2026 on Saturday morning. Leveraging the rapid rise of pickleball in recent years, the tournament aims to further promote sports tourism in the state while attracting more domestic and international visitors to Selangor.

The tournament was jointly organised by Tourism Selangor, Ancubic Group, Bateriku (M) Sdn. Bhd., and the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL). The event was held at Ancubic PickleClub in Kuala Langat.

As a state-level sporting event, the tournament seeks to promote a healthy lifestyle, encourage greater public participation in sports, and strengthen Selangor's position as a premier destination for sports and leisure tourism. It also forms part of the Tourism Selangor's ongoing efforts to diversify and enrich the state's tourism offerings.

500 Participants Gather for Competition and Networking

The tournament attracted approximately 500 participants from across the Klang Valley, including pickleball players, corporate teams, and pickleball clubs.

Beyond providing a competitive platform, the event also fostered networking within the industry, encouraged community engagement, and supported the continued growth of pickleball.

As one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, pickleball has significant potential to attract emerging tourism markets. Tourism Selangor hopes the tournament will enhance Selangor's international visibility, boost visitor spending, and create greater business opportunities for the local economy and surrounding businesses.

Chua: Tournament Drives Local Economy

Tourism Selangor Chief Executive Officer Chua Yee Ling, said the tournament is more than just a sporting competition—it serves as an important platform for advancing sports tourism in Selangor.

Speaking at the event, she said the tournament brings together the rapidly expanding pickleball community while contributing to the local economy, supporting the growth of the sports industry, and increasing visitor arrivals to Selangor.

She added that Selangor is well-positioned to host major sporting events, thanks to its comprehensive infrastructure, excellent transportation network, high-quality sports facilities, and strong strategic partnerships.

"Tourism Selangor hopes to organise more events of this nature to establish Selangor as a hub for sports, leisure, and lifestyle tourism, while generating sustainable growth for the state's tourism industry."

She further emphasised that the Tourism Selangor will continue collaborating with government agencies, industry players, and private sector partners to organise impactful sporting events that create economic value, encourage community participation, and further strengthen Selangor's tourism brand both locally and internationally.
